Alhama de Granada

Treasure of rock and water

Alhama de Granada is a town in the province of Granada, in a strategic spot between the provinces of Granada and Málaga. At the foot of Sierra Tejeda, part of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park, Alhama is only 50 km from the city of Granada and barely 40 km from the Axarquía towns of Málaga.

It offers, on the one hand, the tranquillity of life in a town of about 6,000 inhabitants and, on the other, the dynamism and convenience of a city centre.

The surroundings offer countless beautiful landscapes and picturesque spots such as the Tajos gorge, the Bermejales reservoir and the Arabic Baths…

As in any good Andalusian town, you will find bars and restaurants that thrive during the summer months and serve traditional tapas.

The most important local festivals are the Candelaria (similar to the English bonfire night), the Carnival (very famous for its Piñata Sunday), the wine pilgrimage (romería del vino), the fairs of June and September and the music festival.
